சூப்பர் ஸ்டாரின் படங்களுக்கும் அவருக்கும் உள்ள தனித்தன்மைகளில் ஒன்று, குழந்தைகள் முதல் பெரியவர்கள் வரை அனைவரையும் கவர்ந்த அவரது பன்ச் டயலாக்குகள் தான். சூப்பர் ஸ்டாரை தவிர வேறு யார் பன்ச் டயலாக் பேசினாலும் திரையில் அது நகைப்புக்குரியதாகவே இருக்கிறது. அவர் ஒருவர் பேசினால் தான் அது பன்ச். மற்றவர்கள் பேசினால் அது பஞ்சர். இது தான் யதார்த்தம்.

“எங்கள் தலைவர் பேசினது எல்லாம் வெறும் பன்ச் இல்லடா… பாடம்! பார்த்துகோங்க!!” என்று ஒவ்வொரு ரஜினி ரசிகனும் இவர்களின் முயற்சியால் காலரை தூக்கி விட்டுக்கொண்டனர் என்றால் மிகையாகாது.

சென்ற வருடம் டிசம்பர் மாதம் வெளியிடப்பட்ட இந்த நூல் தற்போது விறபனையில் சாதனை படைத்து வருகிறது.

நூலாசிரியர்களில் ஒருவரான கிட்டி அவர்களை சென்ற மாதம் அன்னா ஹசாரேவுக்கு ஆதரவாக திருவான்மியூரில் INDIA AGAINST CORRUPTION சார்பாக நடைபெற்ற உண்ணாவிரத வளாகத்தில் சந்தித்தேன். அடுத்தடுத்து அவருடன் அலைபேசியில் பேசும் வாய்ப்பு கிடைத்தது. ஒரு நாள் பேச்சினூடே நமது தளத்திற்காக அவர் ஒரு விரிவான பேட்டி தரவேண்டும் என்று கேட்டுக்கொண்டேன்.  “அடுத்த மாதத்தில் ஒரு நாள் நிச்சயமாக நமது சந்திப்பை வைத்துக் கொள்ளலாம் சுந்தர்…” என்று கூறினார்.

சொன்னபடியே இந்த மாதம் சந்திப்பு குறித்து இறுதி செய்யப்பட்டதும், மற்றொரு நூலாசிரியர் திரு.பாலசுப்ரமணியம் அவர்களும் இதில் பங்கேற்க விரும்புவதாக திரு.கிட்டி தெரிவிக்க “நிச்சயமாக சார்… நமது சந்திப்பில் அவரும் இருந்தால் நன்றாக இருக்கும். உடனே ஏற்பாடு செய்யுங்கள்…!” என்று மகிழ்ச்சியுடன் கேட்டுக்கொண்டோம்.

அடுத்த சில நாட்களில் கொட்டிவாக்கத்தில் உள்ள திரு.கிட்டி அவர்களின் இல்லத்தில் சந்திப்பை வைத்துக்கொள்வது என்று முடிவுசெய்யப்பட்டு, சென்ற வாரம் ஒரு நாள் மாலை அனைத்தும் ஃபைனலைசானது.

இருவரிடமும் கேட்க வேண்டிய கேள்விகள் மற்றும் பேச வேண்டிய விஷயங்கள் குறித்து ஒரு விரிவான ஹோம்வொர்க் செய்துகொண்டேன்.

நடிகர் மட்டுமல்ல… அதையும் தாண்டி

திரு.கிட்டி என்னும் ராஜா கிருஷ்ணமூர்த்தி நடிகர் மட்டுமல்ல. பல கார்பரேட் கம்பெனிகளில் பல உயர் பதவிகளில் பணி புரிந்திருக்கிறார். மும்பை ஜம்னாலால் பஜாஜ் மேலாண்மை நிறுவனத்தில் 1975 ஆம் ஆண்டு எம்.பி.ஏ. முடித்த இவர் பின்னர்  ‘முகுந்த் அயர்ன் & ஸ்டீல்’ என்னும் நிறுவனத்தில் பர்சனல் ஆபீசராக தமது பயணத்தை துவங்கினார்.  பின்னர் ‘ஐ.டி.சி. வெல்கம்’ குழுமத்தில் ரீஜனல் பர்சனல் மேனஜராக பணி புரிந்தார். அதன் பிறகு ENFIELD நிறுவனத்தில் HR - GENERAL MANAGER ஆக பணியாற்றினார். பிறகு இரண்டு ஆண்டுகள் POLARIS நிறுவனத்தில் தலைவராக பணியாற்றினார். அதன் பிறகு PROLEASE INDIA என்னும் அமெரிக்க கம்பெனியில் தலைவராக பணிபுரிந்தார். தற்போது TALENT MAXIMUS என்னும் நிறுவனத்தை நடத்தி வருகிறார். இது HR தொடர்பான சேவைகளை கார்பரேட் கம்பெனிகளுக்கு அளித்து வருகிறது. இவருக்கு கீழே பலர் தற்போது பணிபுரிந்து வருகிறார்கள்.

நடிப்பு என்பது இவருக்கு ஒரு PASSION மட்டுமே. அது முழு நேர தொழில் அல்ல. இயக்குனர் மணிரத்னத்தின் நெருங்கிய நண்பர் இவர். சூப்பர் ஸ்டாருடன் ‘ராஜா சின்ன ரோஜா’, ‘தளபதி’, ‘பாட்ஷா’, ‘பாபா’, ‘அருணாசலம்’ உள்ளிட்ட படங்களில் நடித்துள்ளார்.

இது தவிர, இவருக்கு இன்னொரு முகம் உண்டு. அன்னா ஹசாரேவிற்கு ஆதரவாக களமிறங்கிய ‘INDIA AGAINST CORRUPTION’ இயக்கத்தின் தீவிர ஆதரவாளர் இவர். அதன் VOLUNTEER களில் ஒருவர். திருவான்மியூரில், நடைபெற்ற உண்ணாவிரத வளாகத்திற்கு அடிக்கடி வருகை தந்து, அதில் பங்கு பெற்று, தன்னால் இயன்ற ஒரு MORAL SUPPORT அளித்தவர் இவர்.

ஹரி சிவாஜி, ராஜா ஆகியோர் உங்கள் அனைவருக்கும் ஏற்கனவே அறிமுகமானவர்கள் தான். சங்கர நாராயணன், INDIA AGAINST CORRUPTION சார்பாக நடைபெற்ற உண்ணாவிரத வளாகத்திற்கு நாம் செல்வதற்கு ஒரு உடனடி தூண்டுகோலாக இருந்தவர். நம் தள வாசகர். (இது பற்றி, அப்பொழுது எழுதிய பதிவிலேயே குறிப்பிட்டுள்ளேன்.) எனவே அவரையும் அழைத்துக்கொண்டு செல்வது என்று முடிவு செய்தேன். திரு.கிட்டியிடம் நண்பர்களுடன் வரும் விஷயத்தை கூறி, அவரது ஒப்புதல் பெற்றேன்.

கொட்டிவாக்கத்தில் உள்ள திரு.கிட்டி அவர்களின் இல்லத்திற்கு, சரியாக சொன்ன நேரத்தில் ஆஜரானோம். வாசல் வரை வந்து வரவேற்றவர், உள்ள அழைத்து சென்றார். அங்கு திரு.பி.சி.பாலசுப்ரமணியம் அவர்களிடம் நம்மை அறிமுகம் செய்தார்.

திரு.பாலசுப்ரமணியம் அவர்களின் கைகளை பற்றி, சென்ற மாதம் LANDMARK SKYWALKல் நடைபெற்ற இந்த நூல் தொடர்பான ஈவென்ட்டில் நம்மால் தவிர்க்க இயலாத காரணத்தினால் கலந்துகொள்ளமுடியாது போனதை பற்றி குறிப்பிட்டு, “அப்பொழுதே உங்களை சந்திக்க ஆர்வமாக இருந்தேன் சார். ஆனால் கடைசி நொடியில் என்னால் வர இயலவில்லை. தற்போது தான் அந்த வாய்ப்பு கிடைத்திருக்கிறது!” என்றேன் மகிழ்ச்சியுடன்.

நமக்கு கைகுலுக்கி தமது மகிழ்ச்சியை வெளிபடுத்திய திரு.பாலசுப்ரமணியம், “நானே உங்களை மீட் பண்ணனும்னு நினைச்சிக்கிட்டுருந்தேன் சுந்தர். உங்க சைட்டை பார்த்தேன். பிரமாதமா மெயிண்டயின் பண்றீங்க. எங்களோட இந்த புக்கை நிறைய வி.ஐ.பி.க்களுக்கு கொடுத்து நல்லா ப்ரோமோட் செய்திருக்கீங்க. அதுக்கு முதல்ல நன்றி!”  என்றார்.

திரு.பாலசுப்ரமணியம் நீட்டான பேன்ட் சர்ட்டில் டக் இன் செய்திருந்தார். ஆனால் திரு.கிட்டி வீட்டில் இருந்தபடியால் ஷார்ட்ஸ் அணிந்து மிகவும் ஃபார்மலாக இருந்தார்.

“ஆர் யூ ஓ.கே. வித் திஸ்… இந்த ட்ரெஸ்ல ஓகேவா? இல்லே டிரஸ் சேஞ்ச் பண்ணிட்டு வரட்டுமா?” என்றார் திரு.கிட்டி நம்மை பார்த்து.

“மாற்றிக் கொண்டு வந்தால் நன்றாக இருக்கும்” என்று நாம் நினைக்க, நமது எண்ணவோட்டத்தை அறிந்தவர், “ஒ.கே. JUST A MINUTE. I WILL BE BACK” என்று கூறிவிட்டு சென்றார்.

பாலசுப்ரமணியம் அவர்களிடம் பேசிக்கொண்டிருக்கும்போதே, கிட்டி அசத்தலாக டிரஸ் செய்துவந்து நிற்க, அனைவரும் ஒரு நிமிடம் திக்கு முக்காடிவிட்டோம்.

“சார்… இது நியாயமில்லே. இப்போ என் டிரஸ் ரொம்ப சிம்பிளாயிடுச்சு…” என்றார் பாலசுப்ரமணியம் கிட்டியை பார்த்து. அவர் “ஹா….ஹா…” என்று சிரித்தார்.

நமது நண்பர்கள் ஹரி சிவாஜி, ராஜா, சங்கர நாராயணன் ஆகியோரை இருவருக்கும் முறைப்படி அறிமுகம் செய்து வைத்தேன்.

ராஜாவை அறிமுகம் செய்யும்போது “ஹா.. ராஜா…! என் பேரு!!” என்று சந்தோஷப்பட்டார் திரு.கிட்டி. (அவரது இயற்பெயர் ராஜா கிருஷ்ணமூர்த்தி!).

அறிமுகப் படலம் முடிந்ததும் “தலைவரின் பன்ச் டயலாக்குகளை வைத்து, ஒரு புதிய முயற்சி எடுத்து புத்தக வடிவம் கொடுத்து அதில் வெற்றியும் பெற்றுவிட்டமைக்கு, எங்கள் தளம் சார்பாக உங்களுக்கு வாழ்த்துக்கள்!” என்று கூறி இருவருக்கும் பொக்கேவை அளித்தோம். நன்றி கூறி மகிழ்ச்சியுடன் பெற்றுக்கொண்டார்கள்.

நாம் : எங்க தள வாசகர்களுக்கு உங்களை பற்றி, நீங்க எப்படி இந்த துறைக்கு வந்தீங்கன்னு சொல்ல முடியுமா…

திரு.பி.சி.பி. : எழுத்து துறைக்கு நான் வந்தது எப்படினா…. இப்படி ஒரு புஸ்தகம் எழுதலாம்னு முடிவு செஞ்சதும், ஒரு பப்ளிஷர் கிட்டே போய் அப்ரோச் செய்து, அவர்களிடம் விஷயத்தை சொன்னவுடன், அவர்கள் இதை ஒப்புக்கொண்டார்கள். மற்றபடி நான் ஒரு PROFESSIONAL WRITER கிடையாது. ஆனால் தற்போது நிறைய பேர் அடுத்து நீங்கள் நிச்சயமா ஏதாவது இது மாதிரி எழுதனும்னு சொல்றாங்க. பார்க்கலாம்…

நாம் : கிட்டி சார், உங்களை ஒரு நடிகாரத் தான் நம்ம ரசிகர்கள் எல்லோருக்கும் தெரியும். பாட்ஷாவில் உங்கள் வசனமான “எப்படியிருக்கு இந்த தொழில்?” என்று நீங்கள் ரஜினி சாரை கேட்கும் அந்த டயலாக்… வாவ்….மறக்க முடியாத ஒன்று. (எல்லாரும் சிரிக்கிறார்கள்). ‘பாட்ஷா’ படத்தை நான் திருச்சியில் இருந்த போது மாரீஸ் 70 mm திரையரங்கில் பார்த்தேன். மிகவும் ரசித்த திரைப்படம். நீங்கள் தலைவரிடம் கேட்கும் அந்த கேள்வி, சூழல், காமிரா ஆங்கிள் மிகவும் டாப்பாக இருக்கும். நீங்கள் எப்படி எழுத்து துறைக்கு வந்தீங்க…?

திரு. கிட்டி : அந்த பர்டிகுலர் சீனை நான் ரொம்ப என்ஜாய் பண்ணி செஞ்சேன். ரொம்ப இண்ட்ரஸ்டிங்கா இருந்துச்சு. தெரிஞ்சும் தெரியாதா மாதிரி காட்டிக்கனும். ஒரு வியப்பு…. ஒரு பயம்… ஒரு மரியாதை… இது அத்துனையும் அந்த ஃபிரேமில் கொண்டுவரணும்னு சுரேஷ் கிருஷ்ணா சார் சொன்னாரு. ரஜினி சாரை பார்க்கணும் … பார்த்தவுடன் ஒரு ஆச்சரியம்… பிறகு அளவு கடந்த ஒரு சந்தோஷம்… கொஞ்சம் பயம்… இந்த எக்ஸ்ப்ரெஷன்ஸ் எல்லாத்தையும் கலந்து காட்டனும். இது தான் எனக்கு கொடுக்கப்பட்ட பணி. அந்த சீனை செய்யும்போது கூட எனக்கு அதோட வெயிட்  தெரியலே. டப்பிங்கின்போது தான் தெரிந்துகொண்டேன். ரஜினி சார் டப்பிங் முடிச்சிட்டு வரும்போது என்னை பார்த்தாரு. “கிட்டி சார்… பிரமாதம்! பின்னிட்டீங்க அந்த சீன்ல”ன்னு சொல்லி ரொம்ப சந்தோஷப்பட்டாரு. எனக்கு ஒன்னும் புரியலே… “நாம மீட் பண்ணினோமே அந்த சீன் தான் சார். “FANTASTIC PERFORMANCE BY YOU”அப்படின்னு சொல்லி கைகொடுத்தாரு.

“அதுக்கு முன்னாடி தளபதி படத்துல அவரு கூட நடிச்சப்போ… ரசிகர்கள் எல்லாரும் என்னை ஸ்க்ரீன்ல பார்த்து திட்டினாங்க. அந்த கலக்டர் ஆபீஸ் சீன்ல என்னை திட்டாத ரசிகர்களே இருக்க முடியாது…!” சொல்லிவிட்டு சிரிக்கிறார் கிட்டி.

நாம் : “அது தான் உங்க நடிப்புக்கு கிடைச்ச மிகப் பெரிய அங்கீகாரம் சார்!”

திரு. கிட்டி : (மீண்டும்  சிரிக்கிறார்). எழுத்து துறைக்கு நான் வந்தது எப்படின்னா.. மும்பை தான் என் நேட்டிவ். சின்ன வயசுல இருந்தே எனக்கு இந்த கதை, கவிதை, இதிலெல்லாம் ஈடுபாடு உண்டு. என்னோட முதல் டிராமாவை நான் எழுதி ஸ்டேஜ் பண்ணினப்போ என்னோட வயசு 12. 17 வயசுல இருந்து 20 வயசுக்குள்ளே சுமார் எட்டு டிராமா நானே எழுதி டைரக்டும் பண்ணியிருக்கேன். ஜெயா டீ.வி.யில் ‘திரும்பி பார்க்கிறேன்’ ப்ரோக்ராம்ல விரிவா இதை பற்றி சொல்லியிருக்கேன்.

நாம் : ‘திரும்பி பார்க்கிறேன்’ ப்ரோக்ராம்ல நீங்க வர்றீங்களா… வாழ்த்துக்கள் சார்….

திரு.கிட்டி : 1977 இல் நான் சென்னை வந்தேன். நான் ரஜினி சாரை மீட் பண்ணினது ஒரு ஸ்டார் ஹோட்டல்ல தான். 1977 or 1978 இருக்கும்னு நினைக்கிறேன். அப்போ தான் நான் முதன்முதல்ல அவரை மீட் பண்ணினேன். என்னை நான் அறிமுகப்படுத்திகிட்டு அவர் கிட்டே பேசும்போது சொன்னேன்… “சார் என்னோட நேட்டிவ் மும்பை”ன்னு. “… “குட். குட். என்னோட மதர் டங் கூட மராத்தி தான்!” அப்படின்னு சொல்லி சிரிச்சாரு.

நாம் : பொதுவாக ஒரு புஸ்தகம் எழுதுவது, என்பது சினிமா எடுப்பது போலத் தான். மிகவும் சிரமம். எழுதுபவர்களுக்கு தான் தெரியும். அதில் உள்ள சிரமம்.

திரு.பி.சி.பி. : YA… OF COURSE. முதல்ல நாம் தேர்ந்தெடுக்குற சப்ஜெக்ட் தான் முக்கியம். BASICALLY நான் ரஜினி சாரோட மிகப் பெரிய ஃபேன். அவருடைய முதல் படமான ‘அபூர்வ ராகங்கள்’ முதலே. திருச்சில நான் வளரும்போதே
அவரோட படங்களை ஒன்னு விடாம தியேட்டருக்கு போயி பார்ப்பேன். அவரோட மிகப் பெரிய அபிமானி. அவரோட க்ரிடிக்கும் கூட. அவர் கிட்டே அவரோட செயல்பாடுகள்ல எனக்கு இருந்த சில சந்தேகங்களை கூட அவர் கிட்டே ஓபனா கேட்டேன். அதுக்கு முழு சுதந்திரம் அவர் எனக்கு கொடுத்திருந்தார். A GREAT HUMAN BEING.

நாம் : ரஜினியின் பஞ்சதந்திரம் உரு பெற்றது எப்படி?

திரு.பி.சி.பி. : இந்த புஸ்தகத்தை நாம் எழுதவேண்டும் என்று முடிவு செய்தவுடன், முதன் முதலில் நான் இந்த யோசனையை ஷேர் பண்ணிகிட்டது கிட்டி சார் கிட்டே தான். ஒரு பவர்பாயின்ட் PRESENTATION ஆ அதை ரெடி செஞ்சி, கிட்டி சார் கிட்டே காட்டினேன். அவர் பார்த்துட்டு “பிரமாதமான கான்செப்ட். நிச்சயம் நாம இதை செய்யலாம் சார்” அப்படின்னு சொன்னார். ஆக்சுவலா அதை ஒரு ஷேப்புக்கு கொண்டு வர்றதுக்கு முன்னை முன்னாடி சில ஸ்லைடுகளை என் நண்பர்களுக்கு  என் கீழே உள்ள அதிகாரிகளுக்கு  மெயில் அனுப்பினேன். அதை பார்த்து நிறைய பேர் பாராட்டினாங்க. ரஜினி ரசிகர்கள் அல்லாத காமன் பர்சன்ஸ் கூட அந்த மெயிலோட கான்செப்ட்டை ACCEPT பண்ணிகிட்டாங்க. அது இ-மெயில்லில் ஃபார்வார்டாகி கடைசீயில் எனக்கே திரும்பி வந்துச்சு….

நாம் : அந்த மெயில் நான் கூட பார்த்திருக்கிறேன் சார். ‘சிவாஜி’ ரிலீஸ் டயத்துலன்னு தான் நினைக்கிறேன். என் நண்பர்களுக்கு எல்லாம் ஃபார்வார்ட் பண்ணி சந்தோஷப்பட்டேன்.

திரு.பி.சி.பி. : ஆமாம்… ஆமாம்… சிவாஜி சயமயத்துல தான். அப்புறமா, அதை கொஞ்சம் கொஞ்சமா டெவெலப் பண்ணி, ஒரு ஃபுல் பவர்பாயின்ட் பிரசன்ட்டேஷனா ரெடி செஞ்சி லாஸ்ட் இயர் கிட்டி சார் கிட்டே காட்டினேன்.

நாம் : இந்த நூலுக்கு நிச்சயமா நீங்க எதிர்பார்த்ததை விட OVERWHELMING FEEDBACK கிடைச்சிருக்கும். அதுல மறக்க முடியாத ஒரு ஃபீட்பேக்?

திரு.பி.சி.பி. : நிறைய இருக்கு. அதெல்லாம் உங்களுக்கு தனியா மெயில் அனுப்புறேன். சாம்பிளுக்கு மட்டும் ஒன்னு ரெண்டு சொல்றேன். கேரளாவுல கொச்சின்ல இருந்து 90 வயசு பெரியவர் ஒருத்தரு. அவர்கிட்டே இந்த புக் எப்படியோ கிடைச்சிருக்கு. அவர் வாங்கலே. யாரோ அவருக்கு கொடுத்திருக்காங்க. புக்கை படிச்சிட்டு எனக்கு தான் கைப்பட APPRECIATE பண்ணி லெட்டர் எழுதினார். பிரமாதமான ஃபீட்பேக்.

நாம் : அவர் ரஜினி ரசிகரா?

திரு.பி.சி.பி. : YA.. OF COURSE. அவரோட படத்தோல் இருந்து மட்டும் 12 டயலாக் இந்த புக்ல இடம் பெற்றிருக்கு.

திரு.கிட்டி : அப்புறம் ராதிகா கூட இந்த புக்கை பத்தி நல்லா சொன்னாங்க. இந்த புக்கை ரிலீஸ் பண்ணினனது அவங்களும் கே.பி. சாரும் தான். எக்ஸ்ப்ரஸ் அவென்யூவில் ஒடிசி புக் ஷாப்பில் தான் இதோட LAUNCH நடந்துச்சு. அப்போ ராதிகா சொன்னாங்க… :”சார் நான் சில சாப்டர்ஸ் படிச்சி பார்த்தேன். பிரமாதமா இருந்துச்சு. ரொம்ப சிம்பிள் லாங்குவேஜ்ல பிரமாதமா எழுதியிருந்தீங்க” அப்படின்னு சொன்னாங்க. இன்னொரு ஐடியாவும் கொடுத்தாங்க. “ஏன் நீங்க ரஜினி சாரோட பன்ச் டயலாக்சை வெச்சு குழந்தைகளுக்கு ஒரு புக் போடக்கூடாது?”ன்னு. குழந்தைங்க தானே அவரோட பன்ச் டயலாக்ஸோட மிகப் பெரிய ஃபேன்ஸ். நாங்களும் அது பற்றி யோசித்துக்கொண்டிருக்கிறோம் சுந்தர்.

திரு.பி.சி.பி. : பஞ்சதந்திரக் கதைகளே குழந்தைகளுக்கானது தானே.

நாம் : அவர் ரியல் லைஃப்ல அவர் ஃபாலோ பண்ற பாலிசி தான் சார். “இந்த கிடைக்கிறது கிடைக்காம இருக்காது. கிடைக்காம இருக்கிறது கிடைக்காது” என்பது. WHAT YOU DESERVE YOU WILL SURELY GET IT என்பதை அவர் பரிபூரணமா நம்புறார்.

திரு.பி.சி.பி.: ஆமாம். அவருக்கு ரொம்ப பிடிக்கும்னு நினைக்கிறேன் இந்த டயலாக்.

திரு.கிட்டி : அவரோட பட டயலாக்குகள் மட்டும் இல்லே… பாடல்களில் கூட நிறைய விஷயங்கள் ஒளிஞ்சிருக்கும். அது பத்தி எழுதனும்னா எழுதிகிட்டே போகலாம். உதாரணத்துக்கு ‘தளபதி’ படத்துல வர்ற ‘ராக்கம்மா கையை தட்டு’ பாட்டை எடுத்துக்கோங்க.

“தேரிழுக்கும் நாளும் தெப்பம் விடும் நாளும் மச்சான் இங்கே அது ஏன் கூறு?” அப்படின்னு ரஜினி சார் கேப்பாரு. அந்த பொண்ணு அதுக்கு, “அட ஊருசனம் யாவும் ஒத்தமையாச் சேரும் வம்பும் தும்பும் இல்ல நீ பாரு… ” அப்படின்னு. என்ன அர்த்தம் பாருங்க.

ராஜா : ‘முத்து’ல வர்ற “ஒருவன் ஒருவன் முதலாளி…” எனக்கு ரொம்ப பிடிச்ச பாட்டு சார்….

நாம் : அதுல வர்ற வானம் உனக்கு பூமியும் உனக்கு.. வரப்புகளோடு சண்டைகள் எதற்கு… வரிகள் அர்த்தம் பொதிந்தவை சார்…. அற்ப விஷயத்துக்கு எதுக்கு நம்ம சக்தியை விரயம் செய்யவேண்டும் என்று போதிக்கும் அந்த வரிகள்… நிஜ வாழ்க்கையில் எனக்கு மிகவும் உதவுகிறது சார்… இப்படி நிறைய சொல்லிக்கிட்டு போகலாம் தலைவரோட பாடல்களை பற்றி…!

ராஜா : ரீசன்ட் குமுதம் மேகசின்ல கூட வைரமுத்து சார், சொல்லியிருப்பாரு, “விதியை நினைப்பவன் ஏமாளி; அதை வென்று முடிப்பவன் அறிவாளி. ரஜினி அறிவாளி” அப்படின்னு.

திரு.பி.சி.பி.: என்கிட்டே கூட சிலபேர் கேட்டாங்க… எழுதி கொடுத்ததை பேசுறதுல என்ன இருக்கு? யார் வேண்டுமனாமலும் பேசலாமே அப்படின்னு… நான் சொன்னேன்… யார் என்ன பேசினாலும் எடுபடாது. பேசுகிறவர்கள் பேசினால் தான் எடுபடும். உதாரணத்துக்கு எடுத்துக்கோங்க… “மலைடா… அண்ணாமலை…” அப்படின்னு ‘அண்ணாமலை’ படத்துல அந்த எஸ்கலேட்டர் சீன்ல பேசுவாரே… அந்த சீன்ல வேற யாரையும் கற்பனை கூட செஞ்சி பார்க்க முடியலே… அந்த சீன்ல இம்பாக்ட் கொண்டுவரணும்னா, பக்கம் பக்கமா டயலாக் பேசணும்… நீ அதை செஞ்சே… இதை செஞ்சே எனக்கு… அது இதுன்னு… ஆனா ரஜினி சார் சிம்பிளா ரெண்டே ரெண்டு வார்த்தைகள்ல முடிச்சிருப்பார்… ‘மலைடா… அண்ணாமலை’ அப்படின்னு…. அவரை தவிர வேறு யாரும் அதை செய்யவே முடியாது! நல்ல விஷயங்களோ, கேட்ட விஷயங்களோ கரெக்ட்டான காரக்டர், பர்சனாலிட்டி இஸ் வெரி வெரி இம்பார்டன்ட்.

One of the things that are unique with Superstar’s movies and him, is obviously his punch dialogues that impress every age group from 6 to 60! Apart from him, any other actor uttering punch dialogues on the big screen would end up just performing a comedy show. If its Rajni who speaks, then it is PUNCH. If others speak, it’s puncture. That is the realistic fact.

Such punch dialogues that Superstar had spoken receiving millions of people’s applauds and whistles have been analysed, selecting specific ones that have management, self-motivation and noble thoughts and principles. These punch dialogues have been released as a book with hearty blessings by Superstar last December.

Mr P.C. Balasubramaniam and Mr Raja Krishnamoorthy had released the books causing many people to stop and look back. (Raja Krishnamoorthy,as you would all very well know, is popular actor Kitty!)

“What our thalaivar utters is not just a punch.. It’s a lesson! Listen!!”

It has been every Rajni Fan’s pride where they can lift their collars to boast. This has been made possible only by the two men who released the book!

As per reports, the book is creating a record of sorts in sales ever since its release last December.

I had met one of the authors, Mr.Kitty last month when i had gone to the IAC fast venue in Thiruvanmaiyur in support of Mr Anna Hazare. I introduced myself then and spoke to him for a few minutes. After that I had the opportunity to talk with him through phone quite a few times. It was during one of that calls when I asked him if he could give our platform an interview. He happily agreed to it and said would make it happen next month.

Recently, whilst talking, when our meeting date had been decided on, My Kitty said that another author Mr P C Balasubramaniam also expressed his wish to join him. “Well this would be even more special sir. Definitely it would be more nice if he is a part of this. Immediately arrange for it sir” we had replied happily.

The meet was finalised at Mr.Kitty’s residence @ Kottivaakkam last week.

Meanwhile I have been doing sufficient homework by myself by preparing for the questions and points to be discussed with the authors.

Before proceeding on, I would like you all friends to know more about Mr Kitty and Mr P.C. Balasubramaniam as well!

Mr Kitty
Not just an actor..but beyond that!

Mr Raja Krishnamoorthy also known as Kitty is not just an actor but also has served as a Director in many corporate companies and also served in other high positions. He has done his Master of Management Studies from Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management, Bombay, 1975. Started with Mukund Iron & Steel as Management Trainee and Personnel Officer; Was with ITC Welcome Group as Personnel Manager and Regional Personnel Manager, and subsequently, with Enfield India Limited as General Manager (Human Resources). Between June 2000 and March2002, worked actively with Polaris software lab Ltd, a 2600 people organization as consultant and President – Human Resources. From July 2002 till August 2005 he was leading the Consulting and training Division - as Principal Consultant- at ProLease India Pvt. Ltd- part of the Washington DC based Interpro group. Currently he heads the Consulting and Training Division and directs the HRD function at talent Maximus.

Acting is his passion but not a full time profession. Kitty is also a close friend of director Mani Ratnam. He has acted in ‘Raja Chinna Roja’,'Thalapathy’,'Basha’,'Baba’, ‘Arunachalam’ along with Superstar.

A successful entrepreneur!

Mr Balasubramaniam is a qualified Chartered Accountant. He is widely experienced in the accounting profession as a partner of a leading chartered accountancy firm. He has handled several challenging supply-chain related audit and verification assignments for clients in the FMCG and retailing space. He is leading ‘Matrix Business Serviced India (Pte) Ltd’ a Verification Enterprise as Executive Director and President. His enterprise has branches in 120 places all over India. 1500 people work under him today.

Once the meeting date had been decided I went along with friends Hari Sivaji, Raja and Sankara Narayanan. Hari Sivaji, Raja were already known to us. Sankara Narayanan had been a motivating force for us to attend the fast organized by INDIA AGAINST CORRUPTION movement. (I had already mentioned this in a previous article.) Permission had also been sought with My Kitty beforehand for bringing along these friends.

We reached Mr Kitty’s home in Kottivaakkam on time. He came all out to welcome us and invited us in. He then introduced us to Mr Balasubramaniam. Mr Balasubramaniam was dressed neatly in pants and shirt and was perfect. Mr Kitty however was too formal in his own home wearing a half-trousers.

“Are you okay with this? Is this dress okay or should i change the dress and come?” he asked us. “It would be good if changed” we thought and as if he had understood our thoughts he said,”Ok. Just a minute. I’ll be back”

Meanwhile I was in conversation with Mr. Balasubramaniam. “Sir, I was about to meet you last month itself during an event of this book which took place in Landmark, Skywalk. Unfortunately i couldn’t attend it last minute. Shaking hands with us Mr Balasbramaniam said, “I myself have been wanting to meet you Sundar. I saw your website. You’re maintaining it brilliantly. You’ve promoted this book to many VIPs. Thank you very much for that firstly!”

Whilst Mr Balasubramaniam was talking to us, Mr Kitty came dressed splendidly and we were all stunned. “Sir this isn’t fair. Now my dress is too simple” Mr Balasubramanian said to which Mr Kitty laughed.

I then introduced all our friends to the both of them. When introducing Raja,”Ha..Raja..My name” My Kitty happily said. (After all, Raja is his original name isn’t it?) After the introduction ended we presented them with a bouquet saying,”Wishes on giving Thalaivar’s punch dialogues a golden touch and presenting them through a book in an unique manner” and thanked them happily.

After we were invited to sit by them.

Me : “Sir..We know about you well. It would be great if you could tell how you came into this profession so our site visitors could know more about you..”

Mr P.C.B. : “How I came into this profession was by approaching a publisher once I had decided to write a book. Once i told them this they accepted. Other than that I’m not a professional writer. Even then many are asking me to write another book like this next. Let’s see..”

Me : “Kitty Sir, our fans all know you as an actor. In Basha the scene in which you’ll ask Rajni Sir “How is this profession?”.. It was a memorable one! (Everyone laughs) I watched Basha when i was in Trichy in Maris 70mm Theatre. A movie that i enjoyed alot. You asking Thalaivar that question, the atmosphere and the camera angle was excellent. How did you come to this profession..?”

Mr Kitty : “I enjoyed that particular scene very much and did it. It was very interesting. Though knowing I had to show as I didn’t know. Surprise, fear and respect. All these I had to bring into the frame as said my Suresh Krishna Sir. I have to see him. A surprise after seeing him. Then being overjoyed…A bit of fear….This was the job given to me. When I did that scene I didn’t know its weight but whilst dubbing I realised. Rajni Sir looked at me after the dubbing had been done…”Kitty Sir..Awesome. You rocked..In that scene!” he told me happily. I didn’t understand anything…”The scene that we met and did sir..Fantastic performance by you” he said again and shook hands with me. Before that, it was Thalapathy, I had acted with him…Fans were all scolding me on screen. There wouldn’t even be a single fan who didn’t scold me in that Collector’s Office scene.”

Me : “That was a very big honour that you got sir as an actor!”

Mr Kitty : (Laughs) Mumbai is my native. I’ve been interested in these stories and poems since young. I was 12 years old when i wrote and staged my first drama. Between 17 and 20 years of age I’ve written and directed about eight dramas myself. I have spoken about this on the program, ‘Thirumbi Paarkiren’ in Jaya TV.”

Me : “Oh you’re appearing in ‘Thirumbi Paarkiren’?.. Wishes Sir…”

Mr Kitty : “I came to Chennai in 1977. I met Rajni Sir in a star hotel. I think in 1977 or 1978. That was when i first met him. I introduced myself to him and told him,”Sir my native is Mumbai”. For that he said,”Good. Good. My mother tongue is Marathi as well!” and laughed.

Me : “Usually writing a book is like making a movie as well. Very difficult. Only those who write it know its difficulties.”

Mr P.C.B. : “Ya..Of course. First the subject that we choose is important. Basically I’m a huge Rajni fan. I’ve been watching his movies in theatres ever since i was studying in Trichy. A big admirer of him. A critique of him as well. I’ve cleared my doubts about his doings with him itself. He had given me that much of freedom. A great human being.”

Me : “How did Rajni’s Punchthanthiram took off?”

Mr P.C.B. : “Once I decided on writing this book we took this thought to Kitty sir. I prepared a Powerpoint presentation and showed it to him. He said,”Brilliant concept. Definitely we’ll do this Bala”. Actually before giving shape to this idea, I showed a few slides to my friends and officers working under me through mail. Many praised it. Apart from Rajni fans, common people too accepted the concept. The mail which was forwarded further came back to me eventually…”

Me : “Even I have seen that mail sir. I think it was during the time of release of ‘Sivaji’. I happily forwarded it to my friends as well.”

Mr P.C.B. : “Yes… Yes… It was during ‘Sivaji’. After that I developed it further into a full Powerpoint presentation and showed it to Kitty Sir last year.”

Me : You’d have received much more overwhelming feedback for this book than what you would have expected. What is the most unforgettable feedback?”

Mr P.C.B. : There’s many. I’ll mail you those separately. For a sample I’ll tell you two of them. In Kerala, there is a 90 year old elderly man in Cochin. He has somehow gotten this book. He didn’t buy it. Someone has given it to him. After reading the book, he wrote me a letter of appreciation. It was a brilliant feedback.”

Me : “Is he a Rajni fan?”

Mr P.B.C. : It definitely must be. He told us that we had written a brilliant book on such a wonderful person. Then he must definitely be a Rajni fan. Just like how they admire his movies, they admire this book. Even his movies are like that as well aren’t they?…Children like his movies..and 90 years old seniors like them too.”

He had praised this book and that was a surprise. ” P.C.B. , once I had seen the cover I didn’t want to buy it as I thought it would be related to cinema but decided to get it as I wanted to know what was in it after all. You made the difference. Great content. I liked it very much…’Perai kettavudanae chummaa adhiruthilla?’ from the movie Sivaji and how you related it to Brand Management in a chapter was very wonderful” he said.

Apart from him, many fans, members of the public had praised the book.”

Me : “Did any celebrities praise this book..?”

Mr P.C.B. : “Vairamuthu sir directly appreciated our work. It was when we had been to Rajni Sir’s house for his 61th birthday celebrations. Vairamuthu sir had said,”Wonderful concept. Good flow of words”. Rather than praising on the whole, when Vairamuthu Sir specifically appreciated the way words had been formed in the book, we were very happy. For he was a big writer and poet himself. To get appraisal from him was a big gift. Other than that S.P. Muthuraman had praised us.”

Me : “Sir we have even given this book to S.P.M. sir. Two months before when we met him, we had presented this book to him. He accepted it happily. I had first given this book to Suresh Krishna sir. I wished to gift him first with the book. Reason being, he was the one who first brought about the concept of punch dialogues into Rajni movies.”

Mr P.C.B. : “Ya. Of course. Just from his movies alone, 12 dialogues have taken place in this book.”

Me : We have given this book to many other VIPs. Amongst them we have also presented this book to Thalaivar’s brother Sathyanarayana Rao Gaekwad, Make-up man Muthappa and recently Vijay TV’s Gopinath Sir. If it wasn’t you I came to meet, I would have presented you with the book as well.” (Everyone laughs)

Mr Kitty : “Someone I knew suddenly called me and said he needed 20 books urgently. He bought 20 books and gave them as new year gifts to his family and friends”

Mr P.C.B. : “Also of NRIs have bought this book. Sales of this book has been going on well in Hong Kong and South America. Our Indians have been interestedly reading this book. One doesn’t have to be Tamil to read this book as there is also an English version of it. If we were to release it in Japanese it would also be a great success.”

Me : “Sir.. If you were to release this book in other regional languages such as Telugu and Malayalam as well, it would do great. Especially in Malayalam as Malayalees are very supportive of such knowledgeable books and matters. They have a natural thirst for such educational issues.”

Mr P.C.B. : “Definitely it’ll be done. Malayalam and Japanese as well!”

Me : “Is there any other specific appreciation that you have received?”

Mr P.C.B. : “I was talking to actor Rajesh Sir recently about this when we met. He had also asked me then,”You say that important Rajni Sir’s punch dialogues have been in this right? So what about,’Yen vazhi.Thani Vazhi’ from Padaiyappa? Is it there?”. “It’s there in the very first chapter Sir!” I had said to which he got very surprised.”

Mr Kitty : “Even Radhika has spoken well about this book. She and KB Sir had released this book. Express Avenue Odyssey book shop was where the book’s launch had taken place. Radhika said then…”Sir I read a few chapters. It was amazing. You have written it in a very simple language”. She had also given another idea. “Why not you write a children’s book based on Rajni Sir’s punch dialogues Sir?” Even we too are thinking about that Sundar.”

Mr P.C.B. : “Panchathanthiram stories themselves are for children isn’t it?”

Mr Kitty : It seems that Radhika’s children too use Rajni Sir’s punch dialogues often. If she asks them to do something they reply her with,”I have already said 1 time..Should I tell it a 100 times?”. Thus she told us to write a book separately for children.”

Mr P.C.B. : Once when we were talking to Rajni Sir he asked us,”Is the dialogue,’Kedaikkrathu kedaikkaame irukkaathu. Kedaikkaame irukkrathu kedaikkaathu’ included in the book?” For that we answered,”Since the dialogue,’Ithu epdi irukku?’ itself is included will not the dialogue you said be in it?”For that he started laughing immediately!”

Me : “It is one of the policies he follows in his real life as well. ‘Kedaikkrathu kedaikkaame irukkathu. Kedaikkaame irukkrathu kedaikkaathu’. He thoroughly believes that what one deserves is what one will surely get!”

Mr P.C.B. : “Yes. I think he likes that dialogue very much.”

Hari Sivaji : “My father works in Railways. He doesn’t know about these management principles and techniques. His environment works around unions and such. One day he read this book when he saw it at home. He was very overwhelmed by it and asked,”What? There’s this many intricate things in management? And that too hidden in Rajni’s punch dialogues?” Apart from him I have also received good feedback from my friends, both Rajni fans and Non-Rajni fans.”

Mr Kitty : “Not only in his punch dialogues but his songs have also much meaning to them. If we want to write on those songs, there will be no end to it. For an example ‘Rakkamma Kaiya Thattu’ from Rajni’s movie Thalapathy. ‘Therizhukkum naalum theppam vidum naalum,machaan inge athu yen kooru?’ Rajni Sir will ask and for that the girl dancing will reply,’Ade ooru sanam yaavum othumaiyaach serum vambum thumbum illai nee paaru..’. What a meaning you can see!”

(Even though we have listened to the song a 1000 times, we’ve never closely looked at this meaning)

Me : “In that song there is also another sentence. ‘Nallavarkellam ethirkaalame nambikkai vaithaal vanthu seraatha?..’ This sentence will bring such motivation and confidence to us anyday while listening Sir!”

Mr Kitty : “A mass intro song. Everyone sings and dances to it..Even then look at the big message it tells.”

Raja : “The intro song that comes in Muthu,’Oruvan Oruvan Mudhalaali’ is my favourite song Sir!”

Me : “In that song there’ll be one verse. ‘Vaanam unakku boomiyum unakku. Varappugalodu sandaigal edharkku?’ Those verses tell how much we deviate our power on simple issues. In real life they have helped me alot.  I can keep on going about Thalaivar’s songs…”

Raja : “Even recently Vairamuthu had said in Kumutham Magazine,’Vithiyai ninaippavam yemaali;Athey vendru mudippavan arivaali. Rajni is a arivaali”

Mr P.C.B. : “Even a few people have asked me what is so great about delivering dialogues that have been written down? Not everything said by everyone has an effect.  Only when certain people says it, will it have an effect. Take for an example; “Malai da..Annamalai..” This dialogue was delivered during the escalator scene in Annamalai. We can never imagine anyone else delivering that same dialogue. Someone else would have went on in paragraphs in that situation but Rajni Sir finished it perfectly with 2 words! No one else but him could have done this. Good or bad things, both need a right character, personality. That is very important.”

Me : “Sir there is an interesting point hidden behind this. When Rajni Sir goes to Sarath Babu’s house to place a challenge with him he slaps his thigh while placing his challenge. However, once he reaches a higher status later and meets Sarath Babu once again, he doesn’t slap his thigh again. Instead he maintains his standards by just snapping his fingers. The scene was such beautifully planned by Suresh Krishna sir.”

Mr P.C.B. : “Really..Interesting..Really..Interesting.”

Me : “Sir.. When releasing this book did you expect this much of success?”

Mr P.C.B. : “Definitely..But our motive was not Success…but Satisfaction. We never worried about numbers. However all 10 out of 10 people said the book was nice. That itself was a big victory. That is enough for us. Some people gave feedback to improve our writing and this was intended for the betterment of the book only.

Many people were surprised that cinema dialogues could have such meaning in them. Then many had challenged as well saying that only the Tamil version would be a huge success and that the English would only achieve moderately. However, Rajni Sir is a man of CLASS MASS isn’t it? Equal to Tamil the English version is also making great sales. I’ve told publishers that the English version could be released in good stores such as Landmark and Connecxions to good response.”

Me : “Sir…I have written an article on the books sales in Landmark and Connexions on the site a few months ago …”

Mr P.C.B. : “I’ve seen that article…Good work.”

Hari Sivaji : “I bought both the Tamil and English versions… I liked the English version more than the Tamil one. Reason being I wanted to see the punch dialogues being explained in English rather than being explained in Tamil which is the original language of the dialogues. It was much more interesting. ‘Kashta padaame yethuvum kedaikkathu. Apdi kedaikkrathu yethuvum nilaikkathu’. You would have explained this dialogue very simply in the English version…”

Me : “Something that we tell in 10 lines in Tamil, we can say in 2 lines in English. That is the benefit of English.”

Hari Sivaji : “I gave the book to my Vice-President (a North-Indian). Once he had read it, he began asking me which movies each dialogue came from and asked me if the DVDs were available. He also began watching those movies!”

Mr Kitty : “Very happy..Very happy..”

In that, a man who came from a small town in Maharashtra didn’t know much about these dialogues and Rajni. He was new to Madras. He was very attracted by the dialogues and started asking the movies’ names and started asking for DVDs of the movies. He didn’t worry about whether he knew Tamil or not but admired the dialogues from the movie very much.”
