சூப்பர் ஸ்டார் ரஜினிகாந்த் அவர்கள் தற்போது GLOBAL SUPERSTAR என்ற பெயரை பெற்று உச்சத்தை தொட்டுவிட்டாலும் சுமார் 25 வருடங்களுக்கு முன்பே, 1987 இல் ‘பிளட்ஸ்டோன்’ என்ற ஆங்கிலப் படத்தில் அவர் நடித்தது நினைவிருக்கலாம்.
அந்தப் படத்தின் முதல் நாள் ஷூட்டிங் மற்றும் துவக்கவிழா பற்றிய ஒரு மலரும் நினைவுகள் தான் இந்தத் தொகுப்பு.
கீழ் காணும் புகைப்படங்களில் திருமதி.லதா ரஜினி, படத்தின் தயாரிப்பாளர் முரளி மனோகர் (ஆம்…’கோச்சடையான்’ தயாரிப்பாளர் முரளி மனோகர் அவர்கள் தான்), இசைஞானி இளையராஜா ஆகியோர் உள்ளனர்.
அப்போதெல்லாம், சூப்பர் ஸ்டாரின் தலை நிறைய முடியும், அவர் அடிக்கடி அதை கோதி விடும் ஸ்டைலும் பார்ப்பதற்கு படு கலக்கலாக இருக்கும்.
படத்தின் முதல் படப்ப்பிட்ப்பு மற்றும் பூஜையை பற்றி அன்றைய தினத் தந்தியில் வெளியான செய்தியை காணவில்லை…
சூப்பர் ஸ்டார் ரஜினிகாந்த் கதாநாயகனாக நடிக்க சென்னை மெட்ரோ ஃபிலிம் கார்ப்பரேஷன்னும், அமெரிக்காவை சேர்ந்த் ‘அமிர்தராஜ் ப்ரொடக்ஷன்ஸ்’ நிறுவனமும், ஓமேகா பிக்சர்ஸ் நிறுவனத்துடன் இணைந்து கூட்டாக தயாரிக்கும் ‘பிளட்ஸ்டோன்’ என்ற ஆங்கிலப் படத்திற்கான தொடக்க விழா சென்னை பிரசாத் ஸ்டூடியோவில் 14-09-1987 அன்று நடந்தது. (இப்படத்திற்கு முதலில் வைக்கப்பட்ட பெயர் Go gor Gold).
ஏகப்பட்ட கட்டுப்பாடுகளையும் மீறி ஸ்டுடியோவுக்குள் கட்டுங்கடங்காத கூட்டம்.
முதல் நாள் படப்பிடிப்பு உடனடியாக தொடங்கியது.
முதல் ஷாட் - ரஜினிகாந்த் தந்தது சொந்த பியட் காரை வேகமாக ஒட்டி வந்து ‘சரக்’ என்று நிறுத்தி, ஸ்டைலாக கதவைத் திறந்து வெளியில் இறங்கி “You have made the right investment” என்ற ஆங்கில வசனத்தை பேசினார்.
ஒரே டேக்கில் ஷாட் ஒ.கே. ஆனது. கூடியிருந்த படப்பிடிப்பை வேடிக்கை பார்த்தவர்களின் கைத்தட்டல் விண்ணைப் பிளந்தது.
ஒரே டேக்கில் சரியா நடித்த ரஜினிகாந்த்தை அந்தப் படத்தின் இயக்குனர் டுவைட் லிட்டில் தயாரிப்பாளர் முரளி மனோகர் ஆகியோர் கைதட்டி பாராட்டினர்.
எரிக் ஆண்டர்சன் காட்சியை ஒலிப்பதிவு செய்தார்.
பெரியவர் எல்.வி.பிரசாத், இப்படத்திற்கு இசையமைக்கும் இளையராஜா, திருமதி.லதா ரஜினிகாந்த், வி.கோபாலகிருஷ்ணன், மற்றும் தமிழ்த் திரையுலகை சேர்ந்த பலர் ஒரு தென்னக நடிகர் கதாநாயகனாக நடிக்கும் அந்த ஆங்கிலப் படப்பிடிப்பை நேரில் காணக் குழுமியிருந்தனர்.
இப்படத்தின் கதையை ‘பிளைன்ட் டேட்’, ‘விண்ட’, போன்ற படங்ளை இயக்கிய நிகோ மாச்டோராகிஸ் எழுதியிருக்கிறார். ‘அன்னா நிக்கல்சன் ‘ என்ற ஆங்கில நடிகை கதாநாயகியாக நடிக்கிறார்.
செப்டம்பர் 18 முதல் அக்டோபர் இருபத்தொன்றுவரை தொடர்ந்து ஆங்கிலப் படத்தின் ஷூட்டிங் பெங்களூர், மைசூர், மகாபலிபுரம், ஆகிய இடங்களில் நடக்கிறது.
தமது கணவர் ரஜினிகாந்த் கலந்து கொள்ளும் படப்பிடிப்புக்களை காண சாதாரணமாக லதா ரஜினிகாந்த் வருவதில்லை. அவர் இந்தப் படத்க்தின் முதல் நாள் படப்பிடிப்பை காண, வந்திருந்து குத்துவிளக்கை ஏற்றி வைத்தது குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது.
படப்பிடிப்பை நடத்திய வெளிநாட்டு டெக்னீஷியன்ஸ் அனைவருக்கும் நமது கலாச்சாரப்படி மாலை அணிவித்து விபூதி குங்குமம் ஆகியவையும் வழங்கப்பட்டது. அவர்கள் அந்த மாலைகளை கழட்டாமலே மிக்க மகிழ்ச்சியுடன் தங்கள் பணிகளை செய்தனர்.

Rajnikanth played the role of a Taxi Driver (Shyam Babu)….
The interesting part of selecting Rajni to play the second hero role is :
The Producer and Director has seen more than 100s of photographs of the Indian actors (including Amitabh Bachan) and selected Rajni to play the Taxi Driver Role….
That time director gave an interview, he watched Oorkkavalan and impressed of our thalaivar's handkerchief style, before all fight sequences he does that, and thats also another reason for selecting our thalaivar.
T.Rajendar acquired Chennai City Distribution rights thru his Simbu Cine Arts and lost huge money… Later for compensating his loss, he approached Super Star Call-sheet for a Tamil movie, which never happened…
For that he got Rajadhi Raja rights from Ilaiyaraja. (and compensated very well)

Before Brett Stimely, Stallone's brother was selected for this movie. May be a rumour also. But after Blood Stone, there was a news that thalaivar is going to act in another hollywood movie, 'Mr.Alex Rebel must be killed' with Gregory Peck. But that didn't happened.
I remember seeing this movie in Alankar with Friends that time I was +1 or 10th I don't remember, It was pomp show at Alankar were many SS fans seniors to me came it was very grand the scene I remember in this movie SS will sit on a rock and his famous Cigarette lighting scene… Simbu Cine Arts released this movie I don't remember but TR was asking call sheet with SS for Myvizhi Maathu a james bond ala movie… but it never happened.

Memories of old days. I remember seeing this movie in Lido theatre bangalore. Huge cut of superstar and garlands were put up like anything. Even today I have never seen so much garland put for any actor. People were wondering which hollywood star is acting and so much garland. Later everybody got to know it was Superstar. I still remember seeing this huge cut out with garlands with my open mouth. Bloodstone is a wonderful movie. English movies are always presented differently and many fans were expecting a typical mass movie. I have the DVD copy and still keep seeing it sometimes. Thanks for bringing back these wonderful memories.

Good parts of the movie was Superstar's style and the character "Inspector Ramesh" played by a foreigner! He had acted so well, including dialogue delivery, that you can't tell that he is a foreigner!
Unfortunately the screenplay was not captivating, in my opinion, which caused the film to bomb.
I was disappointed about this movie, since this was by the director who had directed a good thriller like "Murder at 1600" and had high expectations when watching this.
