Rajini’s Punchtantra, the book based on punch dialogues of Superstar in various movies which was released during December 2010 - as we all are aware - has made record of sorts in sales. The book was published by New Horizon Media in both Tamil and English. Now the English version has been taken over by Rupa Publications, a prestigious publishing house which has a strong hold in pan India book market.

Rupa Publications has released the book with a brand new cover page design with a sketch of Superstar and also enhanced the book with new photographs printed in a bright looking paper.

I wish to share our visitors that we had the golden opportunity of providing some suitable photographs for this book while this enhanced version was in making. And the publishers and author P.C.Bala have duly acknowledged us by providing my name and our website name in photo  courtesy section and also in acknowledgement section. I hereby thank them for their gesture.

It is really a pride for me and our website, to be associated with this noble book. Thanks to the Almighty for the every opportunity showering on us.

Ever since i heard that Rupa Publications is going to release the enhanced version of the book, my curiosity level raised to know the factors behind this take over. So, i approached the Publisher Mr Kapish Mehra, Managing Director, Rupa Publications with some queries.

Here’s the excerpts of our interview….

OnlySuperstar.com : What made you to take over Rajini’s Punchtantra?

Rupa Publications : Because it is a great book! When Bala approached me with the proposal of taking over the publication of Rajini’s Punchtantra, we were immediately interested. Rajinikanth is truly a phenomenon—he has crossed all barriers of language and regionalism when it comes to his popularity. And this is a unique book: the use of Rajinikanth’s punchlines, which are so popular with his fans, as mantras for business and life management is brilliant—as well as appropriate.

OSSDC : How do you feel about it?

Rupa Publications : Very excited. It is a fantastic idea, superbly executed by Bala and Raja, and it deserves to be out there for everyone to read. And, at Rupa, we have the sales and distribution network to be able to do just that.

OSSDC : Do you think that the book will create record in sales?

Rupa Publications : We hope! Keeping our fingers crossed.

OSSDC : Have you planned any national or regioinal events / activities to promote the book?

Rupa Publications : Events and activities are in the offing for the next few months. Some of them are very interesting and ‘different’ from the regular book launches. One of them, as far as I am aware, has been not tried in India before. You’ll have to watch our Facebook page (www.facebook.com/rupapublications) and the Rajini’s Punchtantra page (www.facebook.com/Rajinis.Punchtantra) for developments.

OSSDC : How is the initial response in the market, all regions ? Do you have plans to take book to other countries ?

Rupa Publications : The response has been great. Our first print run was exhausted within a month of release; we are reprinting already. And yes, we do plan to have the book reach other countries and audiences via online retailers and also rights sales to foreign publishers.

OSSDC : Any valuable / prominent feedback so far?

Rupa Publications : From Rajinikanth himself! He has said very kind things about the book—Bala would be able to share his exact words with you.

OSSDC : Any target in numbers?

Rupa Publications : Don’t want to jinx this by stating an exact figure. But our ambition is to sell at least many, many thousands of copies.

2010 ஆம் ஆண்டு இறுதியில் வெளியிடப்பட்ட ரஜினியின் பன்ச்தந்திரம் நூல் விற்பனையில் சாதனை படைத்து வருவது தெரிந்ததே. சூப்பர் ஸ்டார் ரஜினி நடித்த படங்களின் பன்ச் வசனங்களைக் கொண்டு அவற்றிலிருந்து பிசினஸ், வாழ்க்கை இரண்டுக்கும் உதவும்வகையில் என்ன பாடங்களைக் கற்றுக்கொள்ளலாம் என்பதுதான் இந்தப் புத்தகம். தமிழிலும் ஆங்கிலத்திலும் இந்நூல் கிழக்கு பதிப்பகம் சார்பாக வெளியிடப்பட்டது.

திரு.பி.சி.பாலசுப்ரமணியம் மற்றும் திரு.ராஜா கிருஷ்ணமூர்த்தி ஆகியோர் எழுதிய இந்நூலின் மெருகூட்டப்பட்ட ஆங்கிலப் பதிப்பு, தற்போது ரூபா பப்ளிஷர்ஸ் என்ற அகில இந்திய அளவில் பிரபலமாக உள்ள பதிப்பகம் மூலம் வெளியிடப்பட்டுள்ளது. (கிழக்கு பதிப்பகத்துடன் செய்துகொண்ட ஒப்பந்தத்தின்படி அவர்களிடம் உரிமை பெற்று இந்நூல் வெளியிடப்பட்டுள்ளது!)

கிழக்கு பதிப்பகம் கடந்த ஆண்டில் பதிப்பித்த புத்தகங்களிலேயே மிக அதிகம் விற்ற புத்தகம் இதுதான் என்று அதன் பதிப்பாளர் திரு.பத்ரி சேஷாத்ரி கூறுகிறார்.

திரு.கபிஷ் மேத்தா : ஏனெனில் இது ஒரு மிகச் சிறந்த புத்தகம். இந்த புத்தகத்தின் ஆங்கில பதிப்பை வெளியிட நூலாசிரியர் திரு.பி.சி.பாலா எங்களை அணுகியதும், கிடைத்த வாய்ப்பை உடனடியாக பிடித்துக்கொண்டோம்.
